"PRIMUS INTER PARES" -SR. JOSEPH'S COLLEGE OMBACHI LOGO "FIRST AMONG EQUALS"

STUDENTS' COLLEGE JARGON OR SLANG

Would you like to remind yourself of the famous Ombaci terminologies of your time?
Well, tune in here!

Cow – meat (beef) served in the refectory (dining hall) as a change of diet, and highly regarded by students

Jungling – reading/studying, particularly as examinations approach

Jungler – student who has cut out a profile as one who spends more time than would be expected on reading

Night Jungler – student who spends much of the night (when most others have retired) studying instead of sleeping

Worried Jungler – student who has cut out a profile as one who spends more time than would be expected on reading ..repeated as in Jungler above.

Loca – a girl, usually of little education if any, not considered acceptable to show off to colleagues as a partner, and yet found go-able in private

Opile – a person of shorter than average stature

Oxide – an oversize and poorly maintained coat/jacket usually preserved for the cold jungling sessions

Ours – group of girls (school, etc) found acceptable to show off as partners to Ombaci

Season – period of celebration when students have the opportunity to have fun, free time and, of course, feast on “cow”

Hopefully that tickled your memory a little… and if you can remember any that we missed out, please send in a reminder.
